Adrian Beltre has calf strain

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has a mild strain of his right calf muscle and was not scheduled to run on Monday.

Beltre said he felt the calf as he was running on the treadmill at his house and decided to back off it a little. He took ground balls at third base and participated in batting practice.

"We'll wait a couple of days and see how it feels," Beltre said. "It's not a big deal."
