Sergio Garcia has committed to play in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, which will take place May 19-22 in Fort Worth, Texas, and the HP Byron Nelson Championship one week later in Irving, Texas.
Garcia, a former champion at the Colonial as well as the Byron Nelson (2004), is hoping to earn his way into the U.S. Open without having to play in the qualifier.
Garcia won the Colonial in 2001 for his first PGA Tour victory but hasn't played in the event since 2005, when he missed the cut. He's played in three Tour events this season and has made the cut in all three. His best finish was eighth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. He tied for 35th at the Masters.
"With his success here and success at The Players, it's a nice 1-2 as he's regaining his form," Colonial tournament director Peter Ripa said.
