Rangers add Lewis to 40-man roster

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers officially added right-handed pitcher Colby Lewis to the 40-man roster Monday, designating infielder Joe Inglett for assignment.

The Rangers picked Inglett up off waivers from Toronto in early December. But with the addition of Khalil Greene, the club feels it has its utility infielder. The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release or outright Inglett to the minor leagues.

Texas last week agreed to a two-year contract with the 30-year-old Lewis, who was 26-17 with a 2.82 ERA with 369 strikeouts and 46 walks in 55 games (54 starts) during the 2008 and 2009 seasons with the Hiroshima Carp in Japan.

He was taken by the Rangers in the first round of the 1999 June draft and has played with Texas, Detroit and Oakland.
