BOSTON -- Outfielder Josh Hamilton left Thursday night's 7-2 victory against the Boston Red Sox with a sore right calf, but likely will remain in the lineup for the Texas Rangers.

Hamilton, who had three doubles in the game, raised his batting average to a major league-leading .351 before being replaced by pinch runner David Murphy in the seventh inning because of soreness in his calf behind his right knee.

"It was just tight," Hamilton said, adding that there was no need for an X-ray or MRI. "I could have stayed in and kept playing. I thought it might be a good time for a break."

Hamilton was a starter for the AL in the All-Star Game on Tuesday, going 1-for-3.
