Left-handed reliever Arthur Rhodes agreed to a one-year deal with the Rangers with a vesting option for a second season, according to multiple reports.

A Rangers spokesman said the club had nothing to report. Rhodes would have to pass a physical for the deal to become official.

The 41-year-old Rhodes, a 19-year-veteran, is coming off the first All-Star appearance of his career. He went 4-4 with a 2.29 ERA for the Reds last season in 69 appearances. He had 50 strikeouts in 55 innings.

Rhodes has had an ERA below 3.00 the last three seasons. He's especially tough against left-handed hitters, holding them to a .172 batting average over the last three years. However, he isn't a left-handed specialist. He has held right-handed hitters to a .232 average in that span. Right-handers hit only .182 against him last season.

Rhodes would give the Rangers another proven left-hander in the bullpen to go along with Darren Oliver. The 40-year-old Oliver had a 2.48 ERA in 61.2 relief innings for the Rangers last season.
