Beltre should be ready for Opening Day
He will not run, but getting on the field is a step in the right direction for the Rangers' key offseason acquisition.
Beltre, who has been rehabbing from a Grade I calf strain, and the club have maintained that he isn't in jeopardy of missing Opening Day against the Boston Red Sox at Rangers Ballpark on April 1. The team did acknowledge earlier in the week that he will be out longer than the initial 10-to-14-day window that would have had him in spring training games by March 10.
The Rangers have been cautious in their approach with Beltre hoping to avoid a flare-up. Beltre injured the muscle working out at home.
Playing with the Red Sox last season, Beltre batted .321 with 28 home runs and 102 RBIs.
