ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler is the first player in major league history to hit leadoff homers in his team's first two games of the season, according to STATS LLC.

Kinsler hit a 3-1 pitch from Boston Red Sox pitcher John Lackey in the bottom of the first to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. He hit a 1-0 pitch from starter Jon Lester in Friday's Opening Day game.
Kinsler has hit 15 leadoff homers in his career, a Rangers record. The 28-year-old had nine homers and 45 RBIs in 2010, missing nearly two months because of injuries. The last time he was the primary leadoff hitter was 2009, when he hit a career-high 31 homers and had 86 RBIs.
