ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers right-hander Mark Lowe has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock following the reinstatement of starter Colby Lewis to the active roster.

Lowe has a 13.50 ERA in 2 2/3 innings of work out of the Rangers' bullpen. He couldn't protect a two-run sixth-inning lead and had command issues in a 3-2 walk-off loss to the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.

The right-handed Lewis, who is expected to start Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels, had been on paternity leave since Friday following the birth of his second child last Wednesday.

The move leaves lefty Michael Kirkman with the Rangers for the time being. Kirkman was called up from Round Rock on Friday to take Lewis' place on the roster and has yet to make an appearance for the Rangers this season.
