FRISCO, Texas -- Middleweight contenders Brian Vera and James Kirkland will be the co-headliners in two main-event bouts June 24 when Golden Boy Promotions presents Oscar De La Hoya's inaugural "Fight Night at Dr Pepper Ballpark," home of the Texas Rangers' Double-A Frisco Roughriders.
Vera (18-5), from Fort Worth, is coming off an upset victory over Sergio Mora. Vera will meet San Antonio's Eloy Sanchez (11-11) in an eight-round contest.
Kirkland (27-1), an Austin native and former top contender, will take on an opponent, to be named later, in an eight-rounder.
The five-bout card starts at 7:30 p.m CT.
Fight officials are offering fans free general admission tickets that can be obtained through ridersbaseball.com. The general admission seating is limited to first-come, first-served basis.
