W: J. Weaver (4-0)
L: L. Hendriks (0-2)
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Jered Weaver pitched the second no-hitter in the majors in less than two weeks, completely overmatching Minnesota and leading the Los Angeles Angels to a 9-0 win over the Twins on Wednesday night.
Weaver struck out nine and walked one. The Twins never came close to getting a hit against the All-Star right-hander.Saxon: No-hitter has familiar feel
Jered Weaver chose the comforts of home over more money. So it was only appropriate that his no-hitter came in Southern California, in front of family, Mark Saxon writes. Story

Research Notes
Since the start of the 2010 season, or two seasons and one month, there have been 29 games where a pitcher has pitched at least 9 innings and given up one hit or fewer.
That's the same number such games as the majors saw from 2005 to 2009 or a span of 5 seasons!
Few pitchers have done better in their home ballpark over the last couple of seasons than Jered Weaver. He has the best ERA and opponents BA at home since 2010. [+]Jered Weaver - Home Ranks (since 2010)

This is the Angels second no-hitter in as many seasons (Ervin Santana last season). Since 1961, the 1st year of the Angels existence, no other MLB team has more no-hitters (10). The Astros and Dodgers also have thrown 10 in that span.
While nobody could argue that Weaver was slighted last year with his runner-up finish to Justin Verlander in the AL Cy Young voting, he did in fact finish 2nd in the voting to the unanimous winner.
So how best to make a statement the following year? Try throwing a no-hitter. On Wednesday, Weaver became the 5th pitcher in MLB history to throw a no-hitter the year after he finished runner-up in the Cy Young vote: [+]Pitchers to Throw a No-Hitter - Year After Being Cy Young Runner-Up
