Stojakovic and second-year guard Rodrigue Beaubois did not make the team's three-game road trip that started at New York on Wednesday night in order to ramp up their individual workouts.
Coach Rick Carlisle said the hope is that Stojakovic, sidelined for all but eight games this season with a left knee injury, will play against the Cavaliers.
Carlisle said Beaubois, who fractured his left foot in August and has yet to play this season, will not be ready that soon and again stressed that he is making progress, but without offering a definitive timeline for his return.
The Mavs signed Stojakovic on Jan. 24 after he was waived by the Toronto Raptors.
