Stojakovic out for finale vs. Hornets
"He's been excused for a personal situation, but he's expected to rejoin the team tomorrow," coach Rick Carlisle said before the Mavericks' 121-89 win against the New Orleans Hornets.
The Mavericks entered the game with a chance to move up to the Western Conference's second seed or drop down to the fourth seed, but ended up locked into the third seed as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Sacramento Kings in overtime Wednesday. The Mavs would have moved down if they had lost and the Oklahoma City Thunder won at home against the Milwaukee Bucks, who ended up beating the Thunder in overtime.
Stojakovic, a 12-year veteran, played the previous four seasons with the Hornets. He was traded to the Toronto Raptors earlier this season and signed with the Mavericks in late January after receiving a contract buyout.
Stojakovic, a three-time All-Star for the Kings, has settled into a reserve role for the Mavericks. He is averaging 8.6 points in 20.2 minutes per game since signing with Dallas.
