Gossage predicts attendance to hold
Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage said that he expects attendance at next Sunday's Dickies 500 to be about the same as last year's estimated figure of 171,000.
Last year's race recorded the smallest attendance at a Sprint Cup race in TMS history, but it still was the largest-attended race in last year's Chase for the Sprint Cup. And it should be again in 2009.
"It should be the same number of fans as last year," Gossage said. "I'm never happy about being flat, but that's better than other folks right now."
Gossage said he's already started the process of seeking a new title sponsor for the November Cup race. Dickies is in its last year of a sponsorship agreement and has decided not to renew.
