Foot sprain keeps Priest out vs. Boise

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- TCU cornerback Rafael Priest will not play in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, coach Gary Patterson confirmed Saturday night.

Priest, a senior, suffered a sprained left foot a week and a half ago during bowl practices in Fort Worth. He has not practiced since. While the swelling in his foot has gone down, Patterson said he's not willing to chance it.

Sophomore Greg McCoy will play in Priest's place. McCoy has appeared in every game and started one.

Priest said during media day on Friday that if he couldn't go, he felt like McCoy would play well.

"Greg has come a long way," Priest said. "He's probably the fastest guy on the team. His covering skills have gotten way better and every time I can I give him little pointers and tell him what he can and can't do. I feel like, if I don't get to play, he's going to fill in and hold his own."
