FORT WORTH, Texas -- Austin Dillon, the grandson of Sprint Cup owner Richard Childress, won the pole for Friday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series WinStar World Casino 400k at Texas Motor Speedway during Thursday's qualifying.
Dillon turned a lap of 178.654 mph. Richard Childress Racing has a long history in the truck series, but Friday's race marks the organization's first truck series appearance at TMS.
Matt Crafton will start second and rookie James Buescher, 20, of nearby Plano, Texas, will start third. Buescher posted the second-fastest practice time earlier Thursday.
"I'm pretty happy with what we got for the race tomorrow," Buescher said. "I think we've got a good truck for the race and we're ready to go."
Points leader Todd Bodine, who has five career victories at TMS, will start fourth.
Johnny Benson, who is making his debut for team owner Kyle Busch, will start 13th. Busch, who is competing this weekend in the Sprint Cup Series in Pocono, is first in owner points.
