ARLINGTON, Texas -- Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth will not play against the Dallas Cowboys because of a sprained ankle.

The decision was made to make Haynesworth inactive after he worked out on the Cowboys Stadium field about two and a half hours before Sunday's noon kickoff.

This would have been the first time Haynesworth faced Cowboys center Andre Gurode since Haynesworth stomped on Gurode's helmetless head during an Oct. 1, 2006 game. That incident led to a five-game suspension for Haynesworth, then a Tennessee Titan, and required Gurode to get 30 stitches and plastic surgery to repair the wound to his forehead.

The other inactive Redskins are CB Kevin Barnes, RB Clinton Portis, FB Eddie Williams, TE Chris Cooley, LB Robert Henson, OT Mike William and DE Renaldo Wynn.

The inactive Cowboys are QB Stephen McGee, S Ken Hamlin, CB Allen Rossum, LB Jason Williams, OG Montrae Holland, C/G Duke Preston, OT Marc Colombo and OLB Curtis Johnson.
