ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys had a new holder this week. They could have a new kicker next week.
"We will look at all our options," coach Wade Phillips said.
Nick Folk's job is in jeopardy after he's missed six of his last 10 field goal attempts, including four in a row from 40-49 yards. Folk's latest miss came from 42 yards in the final minute of the first half during the Cowboys' 20-17 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Mat McBriar, who had served as the holder all season until this week, couldn't take the blame for this miss. The Cowboys took the drastic step of having franchise quarterback Tony Romo hold in an effort to restore Folk's confidence.
"I don't believe we've got a holder problem," owner/general manager Jerry Jones said. "So the bottom line is, shoot, we need to make our field goals."
