NEW ORLEANS -- Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware will play against the New Orleans Saints, six days after he suffered a frightening neck injury.

Ware did not practice this week, but he was medically cleared to play. He passed pregame tests regarding the strength and range of motion in the neck.

Ware gave a thumbs up sign while stretching with strength and conditioning coach Joe Juraszek on the Superdome turf, indicating that he would play.

Ware strained his neck during the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the San Diego Chargers, when he was carted off the field on a stretcher and transported to a hospital by an ambulance. After rushing the passer, Ware lost his balance and collided with offensive lineman Brandyn Dombrowski.

After the crown of his helmet hit Dombrowski's hip, Ware collapsed on the Cowboys Stadium field, but he never lost feeling or movement in his extremities.

Conversely, ESPN's Ed Werder reported both Sedrick Ellis and Jeremy Shockey of the Saints would miss Saturday's game.
