Dallas Cowboys starting center Andre Gurode will not play in the Pro Bowl because he is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

Punter Mat McBriar underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Wednesday.

The procedures are not considered serious.

There was some good news for the Cowboys as cornerback Terence Newman was added to the Pro Bowl roster because Arizona Cardinals cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is injured.

Including Gurode, Newman is the seventh Cowboy on the NFC roster for the Jan. 31 game in Miami. Gurode was named to his fourth Pro Bowl of his career despite battling nagging injuries throughout the season.

It's the second consecutive year McBriar is undergoing surgery. He needed surgery to repair several broken bones in his foot after he had a punt blocked against Arizona last year.

This season, McBriar set a franchise-record with 38 punts inside the 20.

Newman finished the 2009 season with just three interceptions, but he had a career-high 21 pass breakups.

"He's the guy we counted on the whole time to be solid and to make plays," coach Wade Phillips said of Newman toward the end of the season. "And the other guy [Mike Jenkins] will get picked on because they will stay away from Terence a lot of times."
