"Im real honored to have this person intro me cuz hes done so much for me in my career," Smith tweeted.
Jones also presented Michael Irvin when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007.
"Emmitt Smith's induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame is truly special," Jones said in a statement Friday. "It is an honor that I share with Dallas Cowboys fans everywhere."
Smith, who holds NFL rushing records with 18,355 yards and 164 touchdowns, played the first 13 seasons of his career with the Cowboys before finishing with two seasons for the Arizona Cardinals. He was the Cowboys' first-round pick in 1990 and played an integral role on three Super Bowl championship teams.
The class of 2010 will be inducted Aug. 7. The Cowboys will be in Canton, Ohio, that weekend to play the Cincinnati Bengals in the preseason Hall of Fame Game.
"I really believe that having our players share in Emmitt Smith's Hall of Fame enshrinement should serve as an inspiration to every man on our roster, whether it be a 10-year vet or a rookie that's never played in an NFL game," Jones said in a statement after that game was scheduled. "I can't think of a better way to start the season from a motivational perspective than wearing the same uniform as the NFL's all-time leading rusher."
