Cowboys sticking with Leonard Davis
Head coach Wade Phillips said it was not a difficult decision to keep Davis in the starting lineup despite the three-time Pro Bowler's problems in pass protection against Tennessee. Titans defensive tackle Jason Jones beat Davis for two sacks in the first half, prompting the coaches to replace him with Montrae Holland.
Davis returned for the final play of the third quarter and played the remainder of the game after Holland suffered an eye contusion that limited his vision.
"The guy is a Pro Bowl player," Phillips said, explaining the decision to stick with Davis as a starter. "I thought he played good when he went back in."
Davis, who is in the fourth season of a seven-year, $49.6 million contract, said his benching Sunday was justified and vowed to use it as motivation. He said he'd focus this week on cleaning up technical flaws that have caused him trouble in recent games.
"Just focus and just working on those little things that really count," Davis said. "It's not the big things, it's the little things that really makes a difference."
