John Garrett will remain with the Dallas Cowboys as their tight ends coach and will be given additional responsibility as passing-game coordinator, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
ESPNDallas.com has also confirmed the move.
Garrett, whose contract with the Cowboys was about to expire, had interviewed with the Miami Dolphins for their vacant offensive coordinator position earlier this week.
Heading into this offseason, the Cowboys had four coaches whose contracts were set to expire. Wade Wilson (quarterbacks) and Garrett were retained. Wide receivers coach Ray Sherman's contract was not renewed, and the status of kicking consultant Chris Boniol is uncertain.
The Cowboys are still working on adding Rob Ryan as their defensive coordinator. A front-office source said Saturday morning that the team wasn't sure if a deal could get completed by the end of the weekend.
