The Dallas Stars activated Karlis Skrastins off injured reserve, and the defenseman is expected to be in the lineup Friday night against the San Jose Sharks.

Skrastins, 35, had a laceration on his right index finger when a skate hit him on Dec. 3 against Anaheim. He missed two games because of the injury.

Skrastins has five assists and eight penalty minutes in 28 games for the Stars this season. His return allows coach Marc Crawford to reunite him with Trevor Daley. The two have been paired together for most of the season.

Skrastins also gives Dallas its best shot blocking defenseman back on the ice. He has a team-high 63 blocks, tied for 12th in the NHL.
