The team recalled defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy from the Texas Stars, Dallas' primary AHL affiliate.
Fistric, who suffered a concussion against Atlanta on Dec. 17, was not expected to play until after Christmas. He was put on IR retroactive to Dec. 17, meaning he could play on Saturday in Colorado if doctors clear him. The team is unsure if Fistric will be ready by then.
The move gives the Stars some additional depth on defense as they prepare to face San Jose at American Airlines Center on Monday night. Vishnevskiy, 21, has four goals and nine assists in 33 games with the Texas Stars this season. He played in one game for Dallas on Dec. 8 at Anaheim, and didn't record a point.
He was the club's first-round selection (27th overall) in the 2006 NHL entry draft.
