The Dallas Stars placed right wing Jere Lehtinen on injured reserve Tuesday, retroactive to Jan. 16, with an upper body injury. Lehtinen was injured during the Stars' shootout win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.

The club recalled center Warren Peters from the Texas Stars, Dallas' primary AHL afflilate, to take Lehtinen's spot on the roster.

Lehtinen, 36, has played in 32 games this season for Dallas and has three goals and eight assists. Coach Marc Crawford has praised Lehtinen as the club's top defensive forward and has put him on lines that need help defensively. Lehtinen has played in 849 career games for the Stars, third-most in franchise history.

Peters, 27, has played in four games for the Stars this season and has a goal. He has 19 points and 21 penalty minutes in 33 games for the Texas Stars this season.

Dallas faces Vancouver on Thursday night.
