DALLAS -- Mike Modano of the Dallas Stars will miss two weeks after the star center underwent successful surgery to remove his appendix Monday.
The 39-year-old Modano, who holds the NHL career scoring record for U.S.-born players, told ESPNDallas.com in a text message Tuesday that he was feeling OK.

Barring any setbacks, Modano would return before the end of the regular season. He has 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points in 54 games for Dallas this season.
"We're going to miss him," Stars coach Marc Crawford said. "You think right away with Mike is his ability to settle things down in intense games and to make a big contribution on the power play. Our power play has struggled here of late and we'd love to have him on that unit. He'll be missed."
