Jeff Cogen, who has been president of the Dallas Stars since November 2007, is leaving the team to join the Nashville Predators organization, the Stars confirmed Tuesday.

An official announcement by Nashville is expected later Tuesday afternoon. According to Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal, Cogen will be chief executive officer with Nashville.

Cogen's contract with the Stars ran out at the end of June. There's no word if the Stars will hire an interim president or if the team will wait until a new owner is found to fill the post.

Cogen came to the Stars after serving as president of the Texas Rangers under owner Tom Hicks, who then owned both franchises.
