Stars put Brandon Segal on waivers

DALLAS -- The Dallas Stars, with 14 forwards on the roster after acquiring Jamie Langenbrunner from the New Jersey Devils last week, placed right wing Brandon Segal on waivers Monday.

If Segal clears waivers Tuesday morning, the Stars will send him to the Texas Stars of the AHL.

"We don't want to carry 14 [forwards], and we want Brandon to play, too," Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk said.

Segal is on a two-way contract, and he makes $550,000 when he plays in the NHL and $130,000 at the AHL level.

Segal, who has nine points (4 goals, 5 assists) in 36 NHL games this season, was claimed off waivers by the Stars from the Los Angeles Kings last season.
