Bell makes plays on both sides of ball
One of the top defensive players in the country is enjoying a surprising senior season -- because he's starring on the offensive side of the ball, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Gateway star Dorian Bell. It does not surprise us to see Bell, who's been recruited by Ohio State as a linebacker, being used on both sides of the ball. This past July we got to see Bell in action over two days at the inaugural NIKE 7ON national championships in Portland, Ore., in which Gateway (Pa.) participated. At the event, Bell was being used as a wide receiver and showed that he could be a weapon of the offensive side of the ball. It was surprising at first as the 6-foot, 226 pounder showed great body control catching a TD on a fade route, out-jumping a defender making an over-the-shoulder-catch, but as the tournament continued, Bell kept making play after play on offense, proving it was not a fluke and showing his dynamic ability. Sometimes great football players can make plays at whatever position they get plugged in at, and that certainly seems to be the case with Bell.
