Marlon Brown ranks as the No. 2 wide receiver in the Class of 2009.
Under Armour All-American wide receiver
Marlon Brown (Memphis, Tenn./Harding Academy) has made official visits to Georgia and Ohio State. He also has trips scheduled to LSU Jan. 10, Florida Jan. 24 and Tennessee Jan. 31.
Though the resignation Monday of Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer surprised him, he has not changed his thinking regarding his official visit with the Vols.
"I'm still going to visit Tennessee Jan. 31," Brown said. "When I heard about coach Fulmer, I was like 'wow.' I was really surprised. I have no idea what to think about Tennessee now. I have to see who the coach is. But I'm still going to take my visit there."
Brown said he does not have a leader at this point. Previously he had said he would wait until a day or two after national signing day to announce his college choice, but he has changed his thinking.
"I'll probably announce on signing day now," Brown said.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Brown has led Harding Academy to an 8-2 record playing wide receiver, quarterback and running back.
Midwest Notes
• Wide receiver Je'Ron Stokes (Philadelphia/Northeast) remains committed to Tennessee, though he is going to look at his options. Stokes' younger brother, quarterback and teammate Malik Stokes, is one of the top juniors in the state of Pennsylvania. Malik Stokes has had his 2008 season disrupted with torn meniscus and a sprained MCL of his left knee but still has early scholarship offers from Tennessee, Maryland and North Carolina.
• LeVeon Bell (Groveport, Ohio/Madison) is one of the top Class of 2010 running backs in the Buckeye State. Bell has attended four Ohio State games this season and will attend the Ohio State-Michigan game Nov. 22. This coming weekend Bell plans to attend the Cincinnati at West Virginia game. He names Ohio State, West Virginia, Penn State, Wisconsin and Cincinnati as schools he is interested in.
• Junior offensive lineman Taylor Miller (Trenton, Ohio/Edgewood) attended the Penn State at Ohio State game Oct. 25. He plans to attend the Pitt at Cincinnati game, the Ohio State at Illinois game and possibly a game at Georgia Tech. Miller says he is interested in: Ohio State, Cincinnati, Illinois, Georgia Tech, Purdue and Maryland.
