• Congrats to UMS-Wright, who won the Alabama 4A state title Thursday night in impressive fashion, thumping Cherokee County 41-7. In their first season back in 4A after two years in 5A, the unranked Bulldogs dispatched No. 3-ranked and previously unbeaten Cherokee County 41-7 Thursday night at Legion Field -- piling up the largest margin of victory in a 4A Super Six game and giving the school its fourth state football title in coach Terry Curtis' 10 seasons at the helm, reports Tommy Hicks of The Press-Register. Leeds also captured the 3A title Thursday, topping Cordova 38-21.
