ESPNU150 watch list tight end
Charles Fashaw (Miami, Fla./Monsignor Pace) current holds one scholarship offer, is getting attention from several major programs and has an early top five and leader.
Boston College stepped forward and offered the 6-foot-5, 220-pounder. The Eagles are among his early favorites.
"I have a top five right now of Florida, Alabama, LSU, Miami (Fla.) and Boston College," Fashaw said. "Boston College is up there because they have offered, but I also plan to camp there this summer and I like their coaching staff a lot."
Fashaw recently made an unofficial visit to Florida for the Gators' Junior Day event and came away impressed with the Orange and Blue.
"Academically, I really liked it," Fashaw said. "I liked the campus and the coaching staff. The new tight ends coach (Brian White) is a good guy and getting settled. I also like the offense that they run and the way they use the tight end in their offense."
Fashaw also talked about the Crimson Tide, the Tigers and Canes.
"I have not been up to Alabama yet, but I really like the program and how they run things up there," he said. "I went to camp at LSU last summer and really like the way they use the tight ends. I like Miami. I grew up here and they are in my top five because it's home."
Another offer for Wood
ESPNU150 watch list athlete Lo Wood (Apopka, Fla./Apopka) picked up his first in-state scholarship offer during the weekend when Central Florida extended him a free ride. Wood previously had been offered by Georgia Tech and Notre Dame.
UGA leads for Parker
Though he has not picked up an offer from the Bulldogs, ESPNU150 watch list prospect Justin Parker (Beaufort, S.C./Beaufort) says that Georgia is his current leader.
"I got to talk to (UGA head coach) Mark Richt one-on-one when I went over there," Parker said. "He really keeps up with your academics and that means a lot to me."
South Carolina, Clemson, Maryland and Wake Forest are the other schools in the mix early. The Tigers, Gamecocks and Terps have offered. He plans to attend South Carolina's Junior Day on Feb. 21.
Shaw gets a new offer
ESPNU150 watch list quarterback Connor Shaw (Flowery Branch, Ga./Flowery Branch) picked up an offer from West Virginia. The Mountaineers join Wake Forest, Georgia Tech (where brother Jaybo is a quarterback), South Carolina and Stanford in offering the dynamic signal caller, who totaled more than 3,000 yards as a junior.
