Rich Rodriguez and his Michigan coaching staff are set for a big weekend. He will host a junior day followed by the Wolverines' first spring practice session.

Rodriguez will welcome some outstanding prospects and it seems likely the Wolverines current list of four commitments will grow.

Wide receiver D.J. Williamson (Warren, Ohio/Harding) landed a scholarship offer from Michigan earlier this week and says he might commit to the Wolverines this weekend, while he is in Ann Arbor.

On the other hand, quarterback Devin Gardner (Inkster, Mich./Inkster) has decided to wait before he announces his college choice. Gardner is expected to eventually announce a commitment to the Wolverines, but it won't be this weekend even though he and his family will be in Ann Arbor visiting the Wolverines.

"My family and coach and I decided that it's best that a press conference will be scheduled after basketball season is over. Then is when all interviews will be," Gardner said in a text message.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Gardner threw for 1,886 yards and rushed for another 1,401 during his junior season. Gardner has scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State, LSU, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Nebraska and others.

Another outstanding prospect that the Wolverines would love to land is William Gholston (Detroit, Mich./Southeastern). The 6-6, 245-pound defensive end has scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Florida, Florida State, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Iowa and others. Gholston is not expected to announce a college choice this weekend.

Offensive lineman Andrew Donnal (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) received a scholarship offer from Michigan this week. He also has offers from Wisconsin, Michigan State, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Stanford, Maryland, West Virginia, Duke, Cincinnati, North Carolina, Bowling Green and Toledo. Donnal will attend Michigan's junior day and watch the Wolverines' spring practice on Saturday.

Tight end Alex Welch (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) and his teammate, wide receiver Tim O'Connor, plan to attend Michigan's junior day also. The 6-5, 225-pound Welch has offers from Wisconsin, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, North Carolina State, Illinois, Maryland, Wake Forest, Boston College and Bowling Green. He will arrive in Ann Arbor Friday and might stay through Saturday.

Bolden will be in Cincinnati

Quarterback Robert Bolden (Orchard Lake, Mich./ St. Mary's) won't attend Michigan's first spring practice session on Saturday. Bolden will be among an outstanding group of prospects at the Nike Combine in Cincinnati.

The 6-4,195-pound Bolden has scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, West Virginia, Oregon, Colorado, Northwestern, Vanderbilt and others.

Irish offer Maryland star

Linebacker/running back Zach Zwinak (Frederick, Md./Linganore) received a scholarship offer from Notre Dame this week. The 6-1, 230-pound Zwinak made 53 tackles including five sacks during his junior season. He also rushed for 1,447 yards and had 19 touchdowns. Zwinak has scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Penn State, Maryland, West Virginia, Michigan, Stanford, Cal, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Pitt and Kansas State.
