The Michigan senior spent much of Saturday talking about how he's not an offensive player and leaves those duties for teammate Kalin Lucas. Then he went out and scored a career-high 18 points against USC to keep Michigan State's Final Four dreams alive.
Walton connected on 8 of 13 shots, including two in the final minutes, and Michigan State survived 74-69 against a very tough USC team that played most of the second half without star forward Taj Gibson. Depth probably hurt USC down the stretch, as did some unfavorable calls. But Trojans guards Daniel Hackett and Dwight Lewis and forward DeMar DeRozan played extremely hard.
