GLENDALE, Ariz. -- This is what makes Missouri so tough to play. Just when it looked like Connecticut had the game at its pace, the Tigers slowly sucked the Huskies into their game. With two big 3-pointers from
Justin Safford and
Matt Lawrence, the pro-Mizzou crowd got going and the frenzy started.
Just like that the Huskies went from three turnovers to eight and the early 11-point UConn lead dwindled to nothing.
It's a lot to ask a team of gifted athletes who want to go to slow down, but UConn has to find a way to stop being baited into the Missouri tempo.
That will be even trickier now with Hasheem Thabeet on the bench. The big man picked up his second foul with 5:28 left in the half. When he was in, it was clear the Tigers weren't real interested in going in the lane.
Now they're taking it right at Jeff Adrien and Gavin Edwards.
