ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Capitals had an optional skate today with 11 guys taking the ice, but not Alex Ovechkin.

The superstar winger also left without speaking to the media. He's fine, but didn't feel like talking to the media.

Caps coach Bruce Boudreau said with two days between games he decided to make it an optional so players could nurse "bumps and bruises."

Boudreau would not confirm who his starting goalie would be for Saturday's Game 2, but the betting money seems to be on a return to Jose Theodore.

More later. We'll try to make our way across town now and catch the Rangers.
