NEW YORK -- You can absolutely feel the buzz as the patrons are making their way into Madison Square Garden tonight. Pumped-up fans were outside as early at 5 p.m., buoyed by the Rangers' surprising 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinals series against the favored Washington Capitals.

Among those expected to take in the game were NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHL Players' Association executive director Paul Kelly.

Caps coach Bruce Boudreau met with the media around 5 p.m. ET, but refused to divulge any more details on the starting lineup. The gossip is veteran tough guy Donald Brashear may play in his first game of the playoffs. He himself apparently announced as much on his Twitter page a few hours ago. Go figure.
