GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Rangers coach John Tortorella would not discuss his suspension after practice today.
That led to a testy exchange between Torts and veteran New York Post columnist Larry Brooks:
Brooks: "What's your response to being suspended yesterday?"
Tortorella: "I have no response. I'm not discussing that."
Brooks: "You're not discussing the fact that you were suspended for a playoff game?"
Tortorella: "That's just what I said. I am not discussing that. Next question."
Brooks: "That's unbelievable, John. Unbelievable."
Tortorella: "You guys have your opinions, write 'em. Next question."
Brooks: "So, it's like a player, after a game, commits a mistake, he doesn't have an obligation to talk?"
Tortorella: "You guys think you're entitled to all information, Larry. I am not giving you any information."
Brooks: "I'm asking for your opinion, not information. Your opinion of your being suspended in the middle of a playoff series?"
Tortorella: "You have your opinion. You don't need me in the conversation. So I'm not going to answer that. You don't need mine and I'm not going to give it to you. Next question, please."
Your humble reporter tried to pry more information out of Tortorella at the end of his availability today.
LeBrun: "Schoeny revealed something pretty important yesterday, John. He said he was trying to push you over the glass [during the altercation with a fan in Game 5]?"
Tortorella laughed along with the other reporters and said, "That's the last question I'm taking."
