BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU does not look like an Omaha-bound team. It looks like a team that's putting on a clinic for what not to do when trying to win the College World Series.
In the top of the fourth inning, with Rice at the plate, what should have been an easy throw to first base for LSU turned into an error that put a runner in scoring position. And Rice third baseman Anthony Rendon did indeed eventually score. Not sure whether it was an error on the first baseman or the pitcher -- and at this point the sun is still a factor -- but it was an error nonetheless and the second one in the inning for the Tigers, their third this game.
Rice is up 3-0 in the top of the fourth and has the momentum in its favor.
When was the last time LSU committed three errors in postseason play? You guessed it. The 2005 regional against Rice, when the Tigers lost 9-7 in the second-round game.
