BATON ROUGE, La. -- It was exactly the kind of inning LSU needed to get itself -- and its fans -- back in the game. Three Rice pitchers threw to 11 LSU batters. The Tigers scored six runs, including a three-run homer, in a slugfest that put LSU up 7-4 heading into the top of the sixth.

The Tigers' three errors in the first four innings are a distant memory. Rice pitcher Taylor Wall gave up three hits and three runs -- all earned -- in a third of an inning. Matthew Reckling finally got the Owls off the field, and LSU got a standing ovation when he did.
