DETROIT -- Lost in the discussion of the Wings' power-play success and the Penguins' lack of discipline was the fact Chris Osgood pitched another shutout. He turned aside 22 shots for his 15th career playoff shutout and second of this postseason.

He is now fourth all time in postseason goose eggs, two behind Curtis Joseph. Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur are tied for the lead with 23 playoff shutouts.

"Ozzie played real well, just like he has all playoff long," Detroit captain Nicklas Lidstrom said.

The Osgood performance was in stark contrast to Pittsburgh counterpart Marc-Andre Fleury, who was yanked for the first time this spring after giving up five goals on 21 shots. Three of the goals were on the power play and another came shortly after the expiration of another Detroit power play. Still, Fleury likely should have had the first goal of the game, Dan Cleary's one-time snap shot that beat him glove-side.

• Pavel Datsyuk was asked if he would have to have his foot frozen before he played in Game 6. "I don't know. I'm thinking it's a secret," Datsyuk said with a laugh. "Yeah, try to keep it secret."

• Detroit coach Mike Babcock did indeed wear his lucky McGill University tie and he's now 5-1 when he's wearing his alma mater's colors. There was a large group of fans and former teammates from the Montreal-based university -- where Babcock played his college hockey -- in attendance Saturday night.

"Yeah, she'll be off," Babcock said of the tie. "You know, I don't know if it was lucky before tonight, but we won tonight and I'm just thankful for the opportunity. It's good to have friends here supporting us."

• The Detroit Red Wings won their 11th game at home this spring (they're 11-1) and are one off the all-time record of 12 set by the New Jersey Devils in 2003. The Wings hope they don't have to tie that record -- they'd like to win it in Game 6 in Pittsburgh, as they did a year ago -- but would get a chance Friday if they can't close the deal Tuesday.
