9:05 p.m. ETIn his pre-game press session, Yankees manager Joe Girardi talked about the team's problems hitting with men on base.
"Obviously, we know they have very good pitching,'' Girardi said of the Angels. "They throw good starters at you. They throw good relievers at you. But I think we've gone out of the zone a little bit at times when we've had runners in scoring position.''
The Yankees haven't shown any sign of turning things around against Scott Kazmir in the early going. They went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position in the first three innings, and they're now 3-for-32 in the series.
