Joe Paterno received a three-year extension from Penn State.

Peyton and Eli Manning became the first brother tandem to make it to the Pro Bowl at quarterback. Peyton completed 29-of-34 passes for 364 yards and three touchdowns as the Colts won their eighth straight game and clinched a playoff berth.

The Celtics extended their win streak to 18 games with a win over the Knicks.

Portland's Brandon Roy had 52 points in a win over Phoenix. Golden State's Jamal Crawford put up 50 in a victory over the Bobcats.

Wake Forest quarterback Riley Skinner did not throw an incomplete pass (connected on 11-for-11) in a bowl win over Navy.

Duke was impressive in its blowout win over previously-undefeated Xavier. The Blue Devils raced out to an 18-1 lead and never trailed.

Penn State's women's volleyball team completed an undefeated season by beating Stanford to win the national title.

Paddy Harrington was named PGA Tour Player of the Year.
