STOCK UP

The Cardinals, Chargers, Ravens and Eagles all advanced in the NFL playoffs.

Peyton Manning won his third MVP award, joining Brett Favre as the only two to accomplish that feat. His season ended in disappointing fashion with an overtime loss to the Chargers.

Utah's football team finished as the lone unbeaten in the FBS (13-0), upsetting Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Remember, the Tide was number one for several months this season.

Boston College's hoop team scored a big-time stunner, knocking off No. 1 North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Tyrese Rice came through with 25 points for Al Skinner's Eagles.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim added a replacement for K. Rod. in the closer role, signing Brian Fuentes.

The Pac-10 went 5-0 in postseason games, led by USC's win over Penn State at the Rose Bowl. Trojans quarterback Mark Sanchez was sensational, throwing for over 400 yards.

Kansas receiver Dezmon Briscoe caught 14 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns as the Jayhawks beat Minnesota in the Insight Bowl.

The Detroit Pistons won their seventh straight game, beating the Clippers on Sunday.

The Washington Capitals are 11-1 in their last 12 games.

STOCK DOWN

Alabama OT Andre Smith missed the Sugar Bowl after violating a team rule. Smith is expected to be a high draft pick and there were reports he had contact with an agent.

Golfer John Daly was suspended by the PGA Tour for six months for conduct unbecoming of the organization.

Kansas CB Justin Thornton missed the Insight Bowl due to disciplinary reasons.

The Clippers have dropped seven in a row and sit at 8-25.
