PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Randy Culpepper, UTEP
Culpepper scored 45 points in a win over East Carolina, the second-best point total in school history (the record is 51) and Conference USA history (that mark is 52, set by Robert McIver of Houston). Culpepper also had 18 points against SMU earlier in the week. The Miners now have a nine-game win streak.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Duke
Mike Krzyzewski's Blue Devils had a pair of big wins. First came a victory over rival North Carolina, followed by an impressive showing against Maryland at home.
SHOCK OF THE WEEK: Penn over Cornell. The Quakers entered the contest with just three wins. Cornell came in with a 20-3 record. The Big Red left with a stunning 79-64 setback that shook up the Ivy League and Cornell's national rank.
COACH OF THE WEEK: Thad Matta, Ohio State
The Buckeyes have responded following the return of Evan Turner. Coach Thad Matta always stayed positive with Turner sidelined for a month. Matta's club scored a huge win at Illinois on Sunday.
DIAPER DANDY OF THE WEEK: John Wall, Kentucky
He scored 22 points in a win over Alabama and followed that up with 24 in a victory over Tennessee. Wall is still my frontrunner for National Player of the Year honors and he took over in crunch time against the Vols with a great spurt.
