HOWARD DOMINATES HAWKS
From Elias: Dwight Howard had 27 points and 11 rebounds in Orlando's win over Atlanta on Monday. Howard has had at least 10 rebounds in 12 of his last 13 games against the Hawks and he's combined that with 20 or more points seven times.
THE DYNAMIC DUO: CURRY AND ELLIS
From Elias: Stephen Curry scored 34 points and Monta Ellis had 28 in the Warriors' win over the Raptors on Monday. It was the 10th time since the start of last season that Curry and Ellis have scored at least 25 points in the same game. The only pair of teammates to do that as often over that time are the Thunder's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook (12 times) .
NOAH OFF TO BLAZING START
From Elias: Joakim Noah had 13 points and 19 rebounds on Monday, giving him 94 points and 90 rebounds in six games this season. Noah is the first player in Bulls history to average 15 or more points and rebounds over the first six games of a season; the only other active players to do that are Kevin Garnett (2007-08 and 2004-05) and Shaquille O'Neal (1992-93) .
RONDO HELPS OTHERS
From Elias: Rajon Rondo had 15 assists in a losing effort on Monday, giving him five games of 15 or more assists this season. That's already tied for the third-most in any season in Celtics history. Rondo set the record with eight games of 15-plus assists last season; Nate Archibald had six in 1979-80 and Bob Cousy had five in 1959-60.
Rondo's 118 assists are second-most over the first eight games of a season in NBA history. John Stockton had 135 assists for Utah in the first eight games of the 1989-90 season.
20/20 FOR RANDOLPH
From Elias: Zach Randolph had 23 points and 20 rebounds on Monday, which was his third 20/20 (points/rebounds) game in two seasons with Memphis. The only other NBA player with three 20/20s over that time is Dwight Howard, who also has three.
BOBCATS BEATEN BY NEMESIS
From Elias: With a loss to San Antonio on Monday the Bobcats are now 2-11 all-time against the Spurs while averaging only 83.3 points in those games. That's the lowest points-per-game average for any current NBA franchise against another.
ZETTERBERG SCORES OT WINNER
From Elias: Henrik Zetterberg's goal 1:23 into overtime earned the Red Wings a 3-2 victory against the Coyotes on Monday night. Zetterberg has scored 38 game-winning goals since the beginning of the 2005-06 season, third-most by any player in the NHL's post-lockout era, behind Alex Ovechkin (44) and Dany Heatley (42) .
RANDLE EL CAN THROW IT
From Elias: Antwaan Randle El, who threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Mike Wallace on Monday, has now completed 21 of 26 regular-season passes (81 percent) for 320 yards and five touchdowns without an interception, which translates to a 157.5 passer rating, just shy of the maximum (158.3). Randle El has the highest completion percentage and higher passer rating among players with at least 20 passes in NFL history. And that doesn't include Randle El's most famous pass, the touchdown to Hines Ward in Super Bowl XL.
OWENS PUTTING UP HUGE NUMBERS
From Elias: Terrell Owens has 41 catches for 618 yards and seven touchdowns over his last five games, all of which have been Bengals losses. Seven other players in NFL history have had at least 40 catches for 600 yards and seven touchdowns in a five-game span, but only Owens has done so while playing for the losing team in each game.
