ROSE BLOOMS IN FEBRUARY

From Elias: Derrick Rose had 21 points and nine assists on Monday to finish February with averages of 26.4 points per game and 8.2 assists per game. That's the highest scoring average by a Bulls player in a month of 10 or more games since Michael Jordan averaged 28.9 points per game in March 1998. No other NBA player has had a month this season in which he averaged at least 26 points per game and eight assists per game.

NASH FINDS FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH

From Elias: Steve Nash had 15 assists on Monday, giving him at least 10 assists in all 10 games he's played since turning 37 on February 7. No other player has had a streak of more than five games at 37 or older; the next-longest was by John Stockton, who had a five-game spree in January 2000.

WILLIAMS ENDEARING HIMSELF TO NEW FANS

From Elias: Deron Williams had 18 assists on Monday giving him 47 through three games with New Jersey. That's the most assists over a player's first three games with a particular team in NBA history. The previous record, 44 assists, was set by Guy Rodgers, for the Bulls in October 1966.

PERFECT PIERCE

From Elias: Paul Pierce went 11 for 11 from the free-throw line in the Celtics' win over the Jazz on Monday. It was the 22nd time in his career that Pierce was perfect from the line while taking at least 10 shots. That ties Pierce with Bill Sharman for the second-most such games in Celtics history; Larry Bird is the team leader, with 28 games being perfect from the line while taking at least 10 shots.

Boston Celtics, Utah Jazz

DENVER INHOSPITABLE FOR EASTERN TEAMS

From Elias: With a win over the Hawks on Monday the Nuggets are now 47-9 (.839) over the last four seasons in home games against Eastern Conference teams. That's the best record in the NBA in interconference home games over the last four seasons.

Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks

KINGS PREVENT SWEEP

From Elias: The Kings' win over the Clippers on Monday prevented Los Angeles from sweeping the four-game season series from Sacramento. The Clippers have swept a season series of four-or-more games only once over the last 14 seasons (1997-98 to date)¿that was in the 2004-05 season, when the Clippers were 4-0 against the Warriors.

TOEWS CONTINUES HOT STRETCH

From Elias: Jonathan Toews had three points (one goal, two assists) in the Blackhawks' win over the Wild on Monday and he now has 23 points over 14 games since January 25. That's the best 14-game stretch of Toews's NHL career and he leads the NHL in points since that date, with five more than any other NHL player.

Toews finished February with 21 points in 13 games, an average of 1.6 per game, which was the highest for any Blackhawks player in a month in which he played 10 or more games since January 1991. That month Jeremy Roenick had 18 points in 10 games and Michel Goulet had 17 in 10 games.
