NBA - Hibbert triple-double
It's Hibbert's 1st career triple-double.
FAST START FOR THE NEW COACH
From Elias: The Mike D'Antoni era in Los Angeles began with the Lakers jumping out to a 10-0 lead against the Nets. It was only the second time over the last five seasons that the Lakers scored the first ten points of a game. The only other such game for the Lakers over that span (2008-09 to date) was a 10-0 lead in a 95-87 loss at Golden State on April 6, 2011.
LAKERS OVERCOME HOWARD'S FREE-THROW SHOOTING
From Elias: The Lakers survived a back-and-forth final period to post a 95-90 victory over Brooklyn in a game in which Dwight Howard made only 7 of 19 free throws. It was the fourth game of Howard's NBA career in which he missed at least a dozen foul shots (his career high is 18 misses from the line). The only other players with as many such games as Howard are Wilt Chamberlain (45) and Shaquille O'Neal (20).
ANTHONY CHILLS AFTER SCORING 29
From Elias: The Knicks' 102-80 romp at New Orleans gave Carmelo Anthony the luxury of taking a seat for the entire fourth quarter after he scored 29 points in 28 minutes on the court. It was only the second game of Anthony's NBA career in which he scored 29 or more points while totaling fewer than 29 minutes of playing time. Anthony netted 30 points in 27 minutes for the Nuggets against the Heat on December 22, 2007.
KNICKS DON'T GIVE IT AWAY
From Elias: New York improved its record to 8-1 while registering fewer turnovers (10) than its opponent (13) for the ninth time in nine games this season. That matches the second-longest start-of-season streak of consecutive games with a turnover advantage for any NBA team since 1991-92. The Timberwolves had fewer turnovers than their opponent in each of their first 15 games of the late-starting 1999 season and the Celtics began their 1993-94 campaign with a nine-game streak of that kind.
NICK YOUNG PREYS ON THE RAPTORS
From Elias: Nick Young led the Sixers with 23 points off the bench to help defeat the Raptors in Philadelphia, besting his previous season high of 16 points, which he set ten days earlier at Toronto. Young has a 22.2 points-per-game scoring average over his last six games against the Raptors (including a pair of 29-point games for the Wizards), compared to his average of 14.8 PPG in 95 games versus all other teams over that span (since Jan. 15, 2011).
CALDERON KEEPS DISHING
From Elias: Jose Calderon handed out 12 assists in the Raptors' loss after he registered 18 assists versus the Magic on Sunday. Calderon set a career high with 30 assists during a two-game span. He had twice previously collected 29 assists over consecutive games (Feb. 2011 and Feb. 2012).
