SportsCenter: My Wish recollections
ESPN SportsCenter's 10-part series titled "My Wish" -- a collaborative effort with the Make-A-Wish Foundation that will chronicle the granting of unique sports-related wishes for 10 children. Each story and experience will be featured on SportsCenter starting July 9 and ending July 23. ESPN.com will feature a first person account of the child's day from a family member who was there. Wednesday, July 19, 2006 Daémon Hanna and Tracy McGrady Daémon has tumors in his body, which can cause a lot of stress and pain, but going to visit with McGrady made it all go away -- at least for that time. Thursday, July 20, 2006 Dillon DeStefano and Wayne Gretzky It would've been easy for him to just meet with my son and leave after 20 minutes, but he made sure to spend real time with my son and was completely genuine with him. The greatest gift he gave my son though was his friendship. Dillon and Wayne still keep in touch through text messaging and talk all the time. Read more |
