It's on. For the past few years we've brought you the expert mock drafts of our own Mel Kiper Jr. and Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay. But this year's draft is too slippery for just two gurus. Enter SportsNation. We put ESPN.com surfers (more than a million of 'em) on the clock to pick like the pros do: Once a player was chosen, he was off the board. Will the crowd prove wiser than the draftniks? We won't know until April 26, but there's no reason we can't judge everyone's picks right now. So without further delay, here's what Kiper, McShay and the Nation say each team is going to do in the first round-and our say on their say.

Since the 1970 merger, Miami has never had the top pick, so forgive Fins fans if they don't know what to do with it. Boston College's Matt Ryan has a nice arm, but elite talent? Nope. Given Miami's holes on both sides of the line, the team should go Long (either one) rather than long shot.

We're with the Nation. If the Rams don't address their DEFCON 5 offensive-line issues, then one of their best players (Marc Bulger) won't be available. Put another way, there are 193 reasons (one for each sack allowed over the past four seasons) to take Master-Lock lineman Jake Long here.

If history is any indicator, Ryan is just what the doctor ordered for the Falcons. The last time they finished 4-12, back in 2000, they used their hard-earned first-round pick on a quarterback named Vick, and that worked out pretty well. For a while, anyway.

Everybody gets it right here (given you're not allowed to draft a coach). McFadden would mercifully end the LaJustin Jorgas era. But on SportsNation's board, he's already gone. That makes RadioShack Jr. the fundamentally and sentimentally sound choice for a D in need.

After finishing last in rushing (78 ypg) and tied for last in sacks allowed (55), the Chiefs need a blocker like cookies need milk. Of course, Jake Long might be long gone by No. 5, in which case McShay and Nation should be thinking Boise State's Ryan Clady or Kiper's man over Dorsey.

Vernon Gholston broke the Buckeyes' single-season sacks record, previously held by Michael George Vrabel. Hmm. Maybe Gholston, who can play both linebacker and up front, will end up moonlighting at tight end, too, in which case the Jets would be getting three positions in one. Can't argue with that value. No wonder it's unanimous.

The Pats could make Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie the first Tennessee State Tiger to be drafted in Round 1 since Ed Jones and Wayward Bryant in 1974. If they do, they'll have to special-order really small letters to fit that name on his jersey. This could be costly and send the Pats into cap disarray. Clearly, Leodis McKelvin's the safer call.

Arizona needs linebacker help. Curiously, the last time they chose a 'backer in Round 1 he was from the Pac-10 (Jamir Miller, UCLA, 1994). The Cards won eight games that year, the equivalent of a normal franchise winning the Super Bowl. Back in 1998, when the Vikes went 15-1, it all began when they drafted a receiver in the opening stanza (some guy named Moss). The Texans have never taken a running back in the first round. The Texans have never won a Super Bowl. Could 2008 be the year that both happen? Nah.
